2010 MUD Board Election Results

Three director positions were up for election at the May 8, 2010 election. Preston Doege and Steve Veregge received the highest number of votes, but candidates Eric Castro and David Lehtonen received the exact same number of votes.

The District called a second election to resolve the tie vote, The second election would have been held on June 12, 2010, but David Lehtonen subsequently withdrew his candidacy. As a result, the second election was not held, and Eric Castro was declared elected as the third director.

The newly elected directors will each serve four (4) terms that expire in May 2014.

New Officer Positions

At the May 25, 2010 meeting, officers were elected for the following positions:

  • President: Nancy Naeve
  • Vice President: Preston Doege
  • Secretary: Gary Sertich
  • Treasurer: Steve Veregge
  • Asst. Sec.-Treas.: Eric Castro

Rick Cherye Honored

Long term MUD Board President, Rick Cherye, received special recognition for his 10+ years of dedicated leadership as board president.

Rick Cherye stepped down from his 10+ years of dedicated service to the District at the May 25th meeting. As a tribute to his years of leadership, a beautiful engraved glass trophy was presented to him. Many of his friends and former Board members came to thank Rick for his years of service at his last meeting as a member of the Board.

Barton Creek Clean-Up

It’s “spring cleaning” time of the year again and to that end all Lost Creek residents are invited to join your friends and neighbors in helping to “Keep Lost Creek Beautiful” by participating in our own Barton Creek Cleanup Day on:

Saturday, April 10, 2010* 9:00 a.m. – noon

The cleanup targets Barton Creek by the low-water bridge and the greenbelts which lead into it.

Meet at the Lost Creek MUD office at 1305 Quaker Ridge to get started. You will be given a map of the greenbelt areas to clean and their access points. Wear old work clothes. Trash bags and plastic gloves will be provided.

To get you started, participants will be treated with breakfast tacos, donuts, juice and water. Community Service certificates will be given to volunteers who are members of organizations that require service hours. Environmental badges will also be awarded to both Boy and Girl Scouts who take part in the Cleanup.

So get outside for a couple of hours and join in the fun of cleaning up our neighborhood while meeting some of your fellow neighbors!

Join the fun and help keep Lost Creek beautiful!

* The Cleanup will be cancelled if it rains.

2009 Texas HB 3693 Statement

In accordance to Texas HB 3693 (excerpted below) the Lost Creek MUD issues the following statement:

The Lost Creek Municipal Utility District purchased $66,832 worth of electricity in Fiscal Year 08/09.

HB 3693

Applicability - Applies to a political subdivision of the state, including all districts.

Requirements -

  1. The district must record in an electronic repository its metered amount of electricity, water, or natural gas consumed for which it is responsible to pay, and the aggregate costs of those utility services.

  2. The district shall report the recorded information on a publicly accessible Internet website with an interface designed for ease of navigation if available, or at another publicly accessible location.
