Lost Creek Wastewater Project

Austin Water is beginning a project to upgrade wastewater facilities in the Lost Creek subdivision. The project includes adding data collection equipment so that the performance of facilities, such as lift stations, can be monitored remotely through the utility’s SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system. This transfer of data will enable Austin Water to more quickly and efficiently respond to equipment malfunctions and therefore provide more reliable service to our customers.

A contractor working for the City of Austin began the installations the week of June 4, 2019. Five sites within the Lost Creek subdivision will be upgraded. While most of the installation work is expected to be completed in about 6 weeks, additional testing is expected to occur over several months to complete the project.

Many of the sites are located behind homes and it will be necessary for crews to walk between homes and through yards to access the sites. This project will not require heavy construction. Most of the work will involve hand-held tools, wheelbarrows and small concrete mixers.

Security Meeting

The Lost Creek Limited District has facilitated formation of a group of eleven interested residents to discuss security issues in Lost Creek. This group will have their initial meeting at the District Board Room on Wednesday, January 23, at 6:30PM.

This meeting is open to the public.

A quorum of District Directors may be present at the meeting. The Board will not take any action at the meeting.

Chipper Days - November 17 & 18, 2018

Mark your calendars! The Lost Creek Limited District is providing a FREE chipper service for Lost Creek residents on Saturday, November 17 and Sunday, November 18, at the northern-most entrance to the Whitemarsh Valley greenbelt.

This service is being provided by Davey Tree Services. The hours to bring your brush and tree trimmings are:

Saturday, November 17: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Sunday, November 18: Noon - 4 p.m.

If you miss these times and the chipper is already gone, please do not leave any brush or tree trimmings at the site due to the potential fire hazard.

Lost Creek Limited District Recreational Facility Survey

The Lost Creek Limited District is a local governmental entity that maintains and improves Lost Creek’s wonderful recreational facilities, enforces neighborhood deed restrictions as necessary to sustain property values, and coordinates Lost Creek’s status as both a Firewise and Dark Skies designated community.

We would like your input on Lost Creek’s current recreational facilities, as well as potential projects or initiatives that have been suggested to or considered by the Limited District Board. We ask that each taxpaying household respond to this survey only once; however, this survey is not a binding vote. The Limited District is operated by a governing board of five directors and expenditures by the Limited District must be for permissible purposes under Texas law and approved by a vote of a majority of directors.

This survey will also be mailed to you and you can respond to it via hardcopy. However, to better ensure the timeliness and accuracy of all responses, we ask that you respond using the online survey if at all possible.

Barton Creek Cleanup 2018

Lost Creek Limited District will conduct its annual Clean Barton Creek Greenbelt Event on Saturday June 9, from 9:00AM – 11:00AM.

Please join us in meeting at the District building at 1305 Quaker Ridge Dr. at 9:00AM. We will distribute maps and supplies, and will have breakfast tacos, water, and coffee for all volunteers.

Once we’re organized and fed, we’ll have a quick safety discussion, then head down to the low water crossing and split up into small groups to pick up trash.

We’ll be done when we run out of trash or at 11:00, whichever comes first.

The District will supply trash bags, gloves, goggles, and insect repellent for anyone who needs them.

Bring your water bottles and we’ll have plenty of cold water to refill them.

This is a great volunteer opportunity for Scouts and students looking for community service opportunities. We will have certificates recognizing their contribution for all volunteers, and patches for the young (and young-at-heart).

Traffic Calming and Speed Mitigation

The Lost Creek Limited District has no authority over speed limits, traffic enforcement, traffic calming, or speed mitigation devices.

The City of Austin has these responsibilities. As a citizen, you can make your voice heard by communicating your concerns to the appropriate City agencies.

Trash Carts

If you did not receive the correct sized cart from Austin Resource Recovery (ARR), please advise them, and they will get you fixed up.

Calling all Talented and Civic-Minded Artists!

The Lost Creek Limited District has recently completed renovations to the Lost Creek Community Building on Quaker Ridge Dr.

Improvements include new exterior paint, removal of ceiling “popcorn” and new interior paint, new carpeting, new blinds, replacement of all electrical fixtures, improvements to Board Room wiring, and replacement of all fluorescent light fixtures with modern LED panel lighting.

To decorate the newly refurbished building, the Limited District Board is soliciting original "Lost Creek" artwork.

Please submit your original painting, drawing, photograph or collage with a Lost Creek theme or element.

All artwork should be original, created by you, and must be suitable for hanging on the wall.

Photographs may be submitted in digital format, and all artwork and should be no larger than 2’ by 3’.

All submissions become the property of the Limited District.

Entries must be received by May 20, 2017.

Please note that there is no guarantee that all entries will be displayed or that displays will be permanent.

Water Tank Renovation Project

Austin Water will begin work on the rehabilitation of the Lost Creek Water Reservoirs (storage tanks) in early September 2016. This project is part of the City of Austin Utility’s safety improvement program for water storage reservoirs.

The project includes preparing the surface and coating the interior and exterior portions of the two steel reservoirs next to the Lost Creek Limited District office on Quaker Ridge Dr. It also includes installing structural and safety improvements and upgrading aging equipment.

Work hours will be 7 a.m.—6 p.m. Monday – Friday. Some work may occur on Saturday. No work will take place on Sunday. Residents near the work site may hear noises during this time. The paint will be rolled on the exterior of the tanks, not sprayed.

A portion of the Lost Creek Blvd Park adjacent to the tanks will be closed beginning September 6 for the duration of the project which is scheduled to take about six months. The playground and gazebo areas will remain open. The only area being closed will be the open field on the east end of the park.  

If you are planning an event during this time, you might want to consider the suitability of Boulder Trail Park as an alternative site. Animal Leash Ordinance

Travis County and the City of Austin have enacted regulations in an effort to maintain safety with respect to unrestrained dogs. Dogs must be restrained on the owner's property and leashed off of the owner's property. Repeatedly violations of stray dog can result in having that dog impounded.

It is recommended that all dogs have an ID tag attached to a collar so that owners can be contacted.
